Friday is coming. I say that to myself every week. But this week, I'm especially looking forward to it. Our flight to the Philippines leaves on Friday night, and we get to our destination Sunday afternoon. I've been dreading the amount of airplane time we'll have on this trip, but I'm feeling a thousand times better about it now that we have two things:
1--Seasons of Modern Family and Rehab Addict on our iPad
2--An entire collection of Georgette Heyer books on the iPad and on my phone.
100+ hours of flying and layovers ain't no thang.
JK. It's totes still a thang. But it's also totes bearable now.
For anyone who might be interested in what we're doing in the Philippines--I've seen a lot of confused reactions when people find out that's where we're going--here's a little rundown.
We'll be starting off in a place called Coron in the Western Philippines. It's part of the Palawan Province. Once we get to Coron, we get to explore the area for a couple days before heading out on a beach camping expedition. It's a private expedition for the four of us (me & Brandon and our friends Jessica & Travis). We make our way from Coron to El Nido over the space of 4 days and 3 nights.
I pray for calm seas. And so can you.
Especially when you see that this is the boat we will be traversing the Linapacan Strait in.
Don't worry, Mom.
We get a few days to explore El Nido before we bus 6 hours down to the airport in Puerto Princesa, stay the night, and then head out to Australia to see my parents (!). In case we hadn't courted enough disaster on our trip, we'll be flying Malaysia Airlines to Melbourne. We get to spend a few lovely days in Melbourne before we fly back to Manila in order to fly back to the US. To break up this long journey, I chose a flight with a 24 hour layover in Taipei (also the location of a recent airplane crash, by the by). We get back on May 11th at 7:15 pm, and I'm back to work at 9 am the next day. At least that's the plan...
If you haven't looked up El Nido or Coron, these places are UNREAL. I can't wait to admire their beauty in real life. Brandon doesn't like me to show him pictures of where we're going--he doesn't want to be disappointed. I, on the other hand, have researched both places like crazy, and I know I won't be disappointed. I'm also unbearably excited to see my parents. They're somehow carving out time in their crazy schedule to spend time with us for a few days. I love my parents, and I'm excited for Brandon and I get to get some QT with them while exploring Melbourne.
